Call forwarding

Keep your number. Forward it to Cedri.

Your customers keep calling the number on your truck, your website and your Google listing. Your phone company sends those calls to your Cedri line, and your receptionist answers. On a cell phone it takes about a minute. Find your kind of phone below: cell phone, landline or internet phone.

How it works

You have two numbers: the one your customers already call, and your Cedri number. You tell your phone company to send some or all calls from the first to the second. Your customers dial the number they know, and your receptionist answers. Nothing changes on your website, your truck or your Google listing. Cedri works with any Canadian business number you can forward: a cell phone, a landline or an internet phone line.

Do it on the phone your customers call

The steps go on the phone that has your business number, not on your personal cell. If your business number is a landline or an internet phone like Fongo, use that section below: a cell phone code won't forward it.

Signed in? Your code is ready

In the Cedri app (Settings, then Set it up step by step) or your dashboard (Settings, then Phone), the code is filled in with your own Cedri number, and a test call confirms it works. The examples on this page use 12895550123: never dial the example, put 1 and your own Cedri number in its place.

Only the calls you miss, or every call

Most owners forward only the calls they miss: your phone rings first, and Cedri answers when you don't pick up, you're on another call or your phone is off. You can also send every call to Cedri.

Call forwarding codes for cell phones

These codes work on most Canadian cell networks. On the business phone, open the keypad, type the code like a phone number, then press Call. A message on the screen confirms it within a few seconds.

Only the calls you miss (recommended)

Dial **004*, then 1 and your Cedri number, then #.

Example**004*12895550123#

Your phone still rings first. When you don't answer, you're on another call or your phone is off, Cedri answers. On Rogers and Fido, this works only once voicemail is off your line: see the notes by phone company below.

Every call

Dial **21*, then 1 and your Cedri number, then #.

Example**21*12895550123#

Your phone stops ringing and Cedri answers every call. On iPhone you can also go to Settings, then Apps, then Phone, then Call Forwarding (on older iPhones: Settings, then Phone). This menu forwards every call. On Android, open the Phone app, then Settings, then Calls or Supplementary services, then Call forwarding.

Turn it off

Dial ##004#, or ##21# if you forwarded every call. On some carriers ##004# also turns off voicemail, because voicemail uses the same kind of forwarding. If yours stops working, call your carrier. If you had voicemail removed, ask your carrier to add it back.

If the code gives an error

Try the same code with the 10 digits only, without the 1: **004*2895550123#. If that fails too, turn on each case by itself: *61* for no answer, *62* for phone off or no signal, and *67* for busy, each followed by your Cedri number and #. These are the codes Rogers, Fido and Freedom publish. Still stuck? Call your carrier and say: "Please forward calls I don't answer, and calls when I'm busy or my phone is off, to" and give your Cedri number.

Forward a landline

Home and business landlines use star codes too, and your phone company can set up the rest.

Every call

Pick up the phone and dial *72. At the dial tone, dial 1 and your Cedri number. Cedri answers that call: stay on the line about five seconds, then hang up. If it's busy or nobody answers, hang up and do it once more. On a Bell line with a Home Hub modem, dial *72, then the number, then #, and wait for the confirmation message. Dial *73 to turn it off. If a message says you don't need to dial 1, use the 10 digits only.

Only when you don't answer or the line is busy

Ask your phone company to set up call forwarding on no answer and on busy, to your Cedri number. On a Rogers home phone you can do it yourself if voicemail is off: dial *92 and your Cedri number for no answer (it forwards after 4 rings, *93 to stop), and *90 and your Cedri number for busy (*91 to stop). On a Bell home phone, *90 and *92 are voicemail codes, so call Bell instead.

Check for long distance

If your Cedri number is outside your landline's local calling area, your phone company bills each forwarded call as long distance. Ask them first, and pick a Cedri number in your own area code when you can.

Already a customer? Your code is filled in for you in the app and dashboard.

On an internet phone service, like Fongo

Internet phone services (also called VoIP) don't use the cell phone codes. A code dialled on your cell phone forwards your cell, not this line: forwarding is set in your account with the service. Here is how on Fongo, with the menu names as Fongo's English site and app show them. On another service, look for Call forwarding, Follow me or Find me in your account, or ask its support to send unanswered calls to your Cedri number.

Fongo Home Phone

Sign in to your account on fongo.com, open Settings, then Follow Me Settings. Set Status to Enable and click Submit. Click Follow Me Numbers, add your Cedri number, then click Back. Set Ring Mode to Sequential and Follow Me Mode to Call Forward When Unavailable, then click Submit. Your home phone rings first, and Cedri answers when you don't pick up.

The Fongo app

Open the side menu, then Account, then Settings. Under Phone Service, tap Call Forwarding, choose a mode and add your Cedri number. Simultaneous is free: your Fongo number and Cedri ring at the same time, so Cedri usually answers first. Sequential needs Fongo Plus.

The Fongo app turns it off after 30 days without an outgoing call

Fongo turns forwarding off on an account that has not made an outgoing call in 30 days. Make a call from your Fongo number now and then, and check the forwarding if Cedri stops answering.

On a business phone system

Your phone system provider sets it up for you, usually in a few minutes: ask them to send unanswered or after-hours calls to your Cedri number. If you manage the system yourself, set your Cedri number as where those calls go.

Notes by phone company

Each phone company named below was checked on its own help pages, on the date under its name. Phone companies change their rules: if yours tells you something different, follow what they say.

Vidéotron call forwarding: cell phone and landline

Vidéotron’s own page gives no dial code for a cell phone: it shows how to turn forwarding on in your phone’s menu, as below. These steps forward every call, and they need a phone and SIM card that work with VoLTE. To forward only the calls you miss, try the cell phone codes above. Setting it up is free, but each forwarded call costs $0.75 a minute unless the Mobile Call Forwarding option is in your plan. Calls forward only to numbers in Canada or the United States, and long distance charges can apply when your Cedri number is outside your local calling area. If the menu already shows Vidéotron’s voicemail number, 514 424-2302, write it down: Vidéotron says to put it back when you stop forwarding, so your calls reach your voicemail again.

iPhone on Vidéotron

On your iPhone, open Settings, then Apps, then Phone, then Call Forwarding. Turn on Call Forwarding, tap Forward To and enter your Cedri number, then tap Call Forwarding at the top left to go back.

Android on Vidéotron

Open the Phone app, tap the menu (the three dots), then Settings. Choose Supplementary services or Calls, then Call forwarding, depending on your phone. Choose Always forward, enter your Cedri number and turn it on.

Vidéotron home phone

Lift the receiver, dial *72, then your Cedri number. If Cedri answers, stay on the line about 5 seconds, until two beeps, then hang up. If nobody answers, hang up and do it once more to force it. Dial *72 alone to check: a fast tone means it is on. Dial *73 to turn it off. Call forwarding is a paid option on Vidéotron home phones, and it forwards to a number in North America.

Vidéotron business line

Dial *72, then your Cedri number. If Cedri answers, stay on the line at least 5 seconds; if it is busy or nobody answers, do it once more, then listen for two beeps and hang up. Dial *73 to turn it off. It is included with Ligne Affaires Optimale, or a paid option, and while it is on the line can still call out but receives no calls or messages. Vidéotron also lists *92 for calls not answered (after 3 rings; *94 and a digit from 0 to 9 change the count; *93 to stop) and *90 for a busy line (*91 to stop), with no step for the number they forward to: ask Vidéotron to send them to your Cedri number.

Fizz

Fizz prints each code with two asterisks first, followed by your Cedri number and #: **61* for no answer, **62* for phone off or out of the network, **67* for busy and **21* for every call. To turn each off: #61#, #62#, #67# or #21#, and *#21# shows the number set. With **21*, your phone no longer rings. Fizz also gives the same iPhone and Android steps as Vidéotron above, and they forward every call. Forwarding needs a VoLTE phone and SIM card, minutes in your plan or funds in your wallet, and it does not work while roaming outside Canada and the United States. Charges can apply when your Cedri number is outside your plan’s coverage area.

Bell

Bell Mobility cell phone

In your phone’s Call Settings menu, choose Call Forwarding, then the kind of call, and enter your Cedri number. Call Forwarding sends the call from the first ring: ask Bell for No Answer Transfer so your phone rings first. It is a monthly add-on to your plan, or $0.25 a minute. To turn it off and get your voicemail back, choose Deactivate All.

Bell home phone

Dial *72 and wait for three beeps and the dial tone. Then dial your Cedri number, with 1 first if it is outside your local calling area. Stay on the line at least 5 seconds when Cedri answers. If it’s busy or nobody answers, wait 3 seconds, hang up and do it once more. On a Home Hub 3000 modem, dial *72, enter the number followed by #, and wait for the confirmation message. Dial *73 to turn it off.

Bell business line

Lift the receiver, press *72 and your Cedri number, listen for two beeps and hang up. Press *73 to turn it off. To forward only some calls, press *92 and your Cedri number for a call not answered after 4 rings (*93 to stop), or *90, then your Cedri number when asked, for calls when the line is busy (*91 to stop). Bell says busy forwarding is only available with Local Link without voicemail or with optional programmable voicemail.

Cogeco

Cogeco home or business phone

Dial *72 and wait for the tone to change to a stuttered tone. Then enter your 10-digit Cedri number. Dial *73 to turn it off. Cogeco says you need the Call Forwarding feature on your account, so ask Cogeco to add it if *72 doesn’t work. Cogeco’s page gives no code to forward only the calls you don’t answer or the calls when your line is busy: ask Cogeco to set that up.

Cogeco Mobile

We found no call forwarding steps for Cogeco Mobile in Cogeco’s help centre. Try the cell phone codes above. If they fail, call Cogeco and ask for conditional call forwarding to your Cedri number.

TELUS and Koodo

TELUS cell phone

Dial *21*, your 10-digit Cedri number and # to forward every call (#21# to stop), or the same way *61* for no answer, *62* for phone off or no signal and *67* for busy (#61#, #62# or #67# to stop). *004*, the number, *, then 10, 20 or 30 and # forwards after that many seconds (#004# to stop). Without the call forwarding option on your plan, forwarded minutes are billed as you use them. Calls forward only to North American numbers, and TELUS prepaid has no call forwarding.

Koodo

Call forwarding is a $5-a-month add-on: in Self Serve, Mobile services, then Manage add-ons. Koodo prints these codes: *21* for every call, *61* for no answer, *62* for phone off or out of coverage and *67* for busy, each before your Cedri number with its area code, then # and Send. #21#, #61#, #62# or #67# turns each off. On prepaid, only *62* works.

Virgin Plus

In your phone’s Call Settings menu, choose Call Forwarding, then the kind of call, for example the calls you don’t answer, and enter your Cedri number. Forwarded calls are charged like any other call, and long distance charges are added when your Cedri number is outside your home area. To turn it off and get your voicemail back, choose Deactivate All.

Rogers and Fido

Cell phones

Rogers and Fido print one code per case, each followed by your 10-digit Cedri number and #: *61* for no answer, *62* for phone off or no signal, *67* for busy and *21* for every call. To cancel: ##61#, ##62#, ##67# or ##21#. Forwarding only the calls you miss works once voicemail is off your line. Fido bills forwarded minutes unless you add Call Forwarding to your plan.

Rogers home phone

With voicemail off, dial *92 and your 10-digit Cedri number to forward calls not answered after 4 rings (*93 to stop), or *90 and the number for busy calls (*91 to stop). Stay on the line at least five seconds when Cedri answers. With voicemail on, these codes only turn message-taking on and off: ask Rogers to cancel voicemail and add the feature.

Freedom Mobile

Freedom prints each code followed by your 10-digit Cedri number and #: *61* for no answer, *62* for phone off, *67* for busy and *21* for every call. To turn each off: #61#, #62#, #67# or #21#. Busy calls forward only when call waiting is off. Freedom says it doesn't charge for forwarding on its network.

Other phone companies

Call forwarding codes for cell phones

Try the cell phone codes. If they fail, call your carrier and ask for conditional call forwarding to your Cedri number.

Forward a landline

Home and business landlines use star codes too, and your phone company can set up the rest.

Check that it works

From another phone, not the business phone, call your business number. If you forward only the calls you miss, don't answer it. Cedri answers, and the call shows up in your dashboard a moment later. Open that call in your dashboard: it should show the number you called from. If it shows your business number instead, email us: booking texts would go to you, not to your caller.

Voicemail picked up instead of Cedri

On Rogers and Fido, forwarding only the calls you miss works only once voicemail is off your line. Call them and ask them to remove voicemail and forward unanswered, busy and unreachable calls to your Cedri number. On other carriers, dial the code again, then call your carrier if voicemail still answers.

Nothing happened

Wait a minute after turning it on, then call again, and check that you dialled 1 before the Cedri number. If the code was refused, try the 10 digits only.

Common questions

Can I still answer calls myself?

Yes. With only the calls you miss forwarded, your phone rings first as it always has.

Does it cost anything?

Cedri doesn't charge for it. Your phone company might: Bell and Fido bill forwarded minutes unless call forwarding is part of your phone plan, and forwarding to a number outside your local calling area can be billed as long distance. Freedom says it doesn't charge for forwarding on its network. Ask your phone company before you turn it on.

What do my customers see?

They call the number they already know, and your Cedri number stays behind the scenes. Texts, like booking confirmations, come from your Cedri number.

I forward every call. What happens when Cedri puts a caller through to me?

Cedri transfers callers to your transfer number, or to your business number if you haven't set one. If your business number forwards every call to Cedri, the caller lands back with Cedri. In Settings, then AI agent, add a transfer number that isn't forwarded, like your own cell.

Do forwarded calls count toward my 30 calls?

Yes. A forwarded call is a call to your Cedri line: an answered call of 10 seconds or more counts toward the 30 included each month. Shorter calls don't count, and your line keeps answering past 30.

Will my voicemail still work?

Not for the calls you forward: Cedri answers them and takes the caller's details. On Rogers and Fido, voicemail has to come off your line to forward the calls you miss. To get it back later, ask your carrier.
